Read Proverbs 24:10
When you hear the name Babe Ruth, what do you think of? One of the greatest baseball players of all time? One of the greatest home run hitters ever?
Did you know that Babe Ruth not only holds records for home runs, but also for strikeouts? It's true. Babe Ruth was not only the "Home Run King," but also the "Strikeout King." Yet despite his many strikeouts, Babe Ruth persevered. He didn't give up; he kept working. Today, he's remembered for his success.
Think About It
Think about the tough parts of your life—the times you have felt like giving up. Are there areas of your life that seem hopeless right now? Proverbs 24:10 says, "If you faint in a crisis, you are weak." Those who can persevere during difficult times, however, are strong.
Each one of us has trouble. Strikeouts are part of the game. In fact, most achievements have an occasional strikeout along the way. When you fail, don't give up: Keep trying. Jesus is ready to help you, and nothing is impossible for him.
Pray About It
Thank you, Lord, that you are my strength. Use my times of failure to teach me to rely on your strength.

I loved playing baseball as a kid. I played Shortstop and lead off batting for a team that won the City Championship one year and came in second one year. We had a lot of fun. Along the way we lost some games and won some games. It is amazing how much better we got when we lost.
I learned a lot from baseball and it is one reason I am high on organized sports. It teaches team work and we win or lose together. I am glad to be in a church that understands that very principle. We try many things at The Bridge Worship Center, some work better than others. We threw a Super bowl party that no one showed up except those of us throwing the party. Not such a win, but a learning experience. We threw a Family Fun Day, which we are doing again in August, and about 500 people showed up. The best part was we worked together in both situations and came out better people.
The difference between losing and having a learning experience is did you learn anything. As a leadership team we go over each event and ask, what went great, what went not so great, how cn we improve if we do it again. It is awesome working with a group of people that work together without any finger pointing.
That is the kind of God we serve. When we make mistakes, even sin, he doesn’t say I told you so, He says, “I love You and want you to use this as a learning experience (repent). Do you serve that God? His name is Jesus Christ and He wants a personal relationship with YOU!
Striking Out Together,
PS
